The Great Die Slow Going Out of Print

Five years ago DMR Books published The Great Die Slow and Other Tales of Dark Adventure by the Welsh author Harry Piper. The contract is expiring at the end of July, so the book will only be available for two more weeks.

In 2019 when I had an open call for submissions for the anthologies Death Dealers & Diabolists and Warlords, Warlocks & Witches, I was very pleased to receive a story from Harry Piper. I was already familiar with him, as his tale “The Man in Chains” was by far the best story I’d read on the website Heroic Fantasy Quarterly. I accepted “The Thing in the Field” for WW&W without a second thought.

After working diligently for a year, Harry had enough material for his first collection. The stories in The Great Die Slow are all set in a Dark Age Celtic landscape, inspired by his Welsh homeland and Catholic upbringing. As a devotee of both H.P. Lovecraft and Stephen King from an early age, the horror aspect of his dark fantasies is more prominent than you’ll find among most other authors of the genre.
