Celtic Adventures Coming in July

Next month DMR Books will release Celtic Adventures, a collection of overlooked stories from the pulp and pre-pulp eras. The tales in this collection all take place in either Ireland or Scotland, and run the gamut from purely historical to the fantastic to the weirdly horrific, with some combining elements of all three genres.

A Celtic-themed heroic adventure anthology would be incomplete without Robert E. Howard, who appears in the pages of Celtic Adventures twice. His story “People of the Dark” is a classic tale of revenge and memories of past lives, and is notable for featuring the character Conan of the Reavers—sort of a precursor to his famous barbarian of the same name. Additionally, the collection concludes with his poem “Feach Air Muir Lionadhi Gealach Buidhe Mar Or.”

The cover art was graciously provided by legendary Irish artist Jim FitzPatrick. I can think of no other artist who would be more suitable for such a collection as Celtic Adventures!

Celtic Adventures will be released in early July in trade paperback and digital formats.

“The Druids” (poem) by Kenneth Morris
