Updates to the DMR Books 2023 Release Schedule
The forces of Chaos have thrown obstacles in the way of many a sword-and-sorcery hero, and now they’re doing the same for a sword-and-sorcery publisher as well. As you may know, Glenn Rahman’s collection A Feast of Ambrosia was scheduled to be released next month, but unfortunately it must be postponed. I tried working with a new artist who turned out to be incapable of producing quality cover art in a timely manner. As a result, A Feast of Ambrosia must be pushed back to February to give a different, more professional artist time to work on the cover. I apologize to those of you who were looking forward to reading it next month, but I assure you it will be worth the wait.
To fill the gap in the schedule for January, we’ll release Swain’s Chase, the second volume in The Saga of Swain the Viking by Arthur D. Howden Smith. In the title story of this volume, Swain sails to Mikligard (as the men of the north call Constantinople) to hunt down his sworn enemy Olvir Rosta. In addition to this novel, Swain’s Chase includes two novellas: “Swain’s Venture” and “Swain’s Payment.”
Here is how the 2023 schedule currently stands:
January: Swain’s Chase (Volume II of the Saga of Swain the Viking) by Arthur D. Howden Smith
February: A Feast of Ambrosia by Glenn A. Rahman
March: The Earth is Flat by Tanith Lee
April: Swain Kingsbane (Volume III of the Saga of Swain the Viking) by Arthur D. Howden Smith
May: Die by the Sword edited by D.M. Ritzlin
July: Swain’s Justice (Volume IV of the Saga of Swain the Viking) by Arthur D. Howden Smith
That is, of course, assuming the forces of Chaos will lay dormant and ignore us for a while—never a safe bet!
On another note, the year-end sale on our classic-size paperbacks is still going on. While our last copies Swords of Steel II have been sold, (very few) copies of Swords of Steel III still remain. One of the most talented authors from the SOS anthologies, Howie Bentley, wrote a sword-and-planet novella which we paired with a Henry Kuttner pulp classic. Lands of the Earthquake/Under a Dim Blue Sun is on sale now for the ludicrously low price of $5. Grab ‘em while you can!
