Whetstone: Debut Issue of New Sword and Sorcery Magazine Out Now

WHETSTONE 1 cover.jpg

We can never get enough sword and sorcery fiction here at DMR Books, and we’re glad to see a new magazine devoted to it. Whetstone is edited and published by Jason Ray Carney, and the inaugural issue is available now. It contains ten short S&S stories, and it’s absolutely free. Download it from their website here.

Unlike many modern S&S authors, the writers of Whetstone don’t skimp on the sorcery portion. My personal favorites in this issue (besides my own story, “Undying Thirst for Vengeance”) are “As Repellent As I” by Chase A. Folmar and “A Thousand Words for Death” by Pedro Iniguez. Highly recommended, especially for the price!

Stories included:

“The Wizard’s Demise” by Géza A. G. Reilly
”Queslavalaka” by J.B. Toner
”The Temple of Vanas” by Kieran Judge
”As Repellent As I” by Chase A. Folmar
”Undying Thirst for Vengeance” by D.M. Ritzlin
”Kauahoa and the Tattooed Bandit” by Patrick S. Baker
”A Thousand Words for Death” by Pedro Iniguez
